Cineworks Independent Filmmakers Society (Vancouver) is offering a FREE youth workshop in your community called NEW NOW.  The workshops are open to youth ages 12-20 years old, and are part of The World Anew, a programming initiative exploring contemporary First Nations film.  The workshops are open to both Native and non-Native youth.  Led by LA-based filmmaker Marilyn Thomas (Saulteaux), workshops will look at narrative through diverse forms and genres—from documentary, to narrative, to experimental. Young filmmakers will learn different methods for storytelling on screen and basic lighting and set technique.  Using cutting-edge video/ digital SLR technology, youth will create a short (1-3 min.) film for broadcast on the NEW NOW website.  This site will feature interviews with established Aboriginal filmmakers as well as film clips and the youth films produced through workshops.  Spaces are limited so register now!

SATURDAY, SEPT. 10th, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.

CINEWORKS STUDIO, 1131 Howe. St, Vancouver, Back Lane Entrance

REGISTRATION INFO: Please pre-register by calling 604-685-3841 or email info (at)
